If you’re planning to set up a server room or data center enclosure, then you already know how important it is to reduce air leaks and hot spots, as well as maintain optimal temperatures to keep things running smoothly. Minimizing air leaks is a good way to save money on energy costs as well as keep your equipment cool. While there are several methods for tackling these problems, in today’s post we share three of the most common.
Air containment cubes. Air containment cubes are little cubes filled with foam and wrapped in heavy vinyl. When compressed, they can fit tightly in between gaps and seams to block leaks from all sides. Using air containment cubes is also a good way to seal odd-shaped openings, as they can be compressed to fit different openings.
Blanking panels. Blanking panels are used to fill gaps between your server racks so you can achieve air containment. They effectively block airflow between servers in the cabinet, which provides energy savings as well as improved efficiency for your server units. Blanking panels come in a variety of different sizes so you can achieve an airtight enclosure no matter the size of your server racks.
Brush grommets. Brush grommets are either square, rectangular or round, and are used to prevent air leakage from electronic cables. The cables run through the openings and the brushes, which look like the bristles on your toothbrush, help contain airflow through the outlet.
